PRG Live Event At CRAS 2015!

Production Resource Group (PRG) is the world’s leading supplier of entertainment and show technology to a wide range of markets, including corporate and trade-show events, live concerts, theatre, television and film. PRG – Las Vegas offers internships and has worked with CRAS for many years.

Operations Manager Adam Parrish, a Conservatory Graduate, came this past week from the Las Vegas depot with over millions of dollars worth of Audio, Lighting and Broadcasting equipment, with full intentions of having the students design and put on a Live Event Production.

Students spent this past week experiencing what it is like to plan, rehearse and put on a real live sound event, from the very beginning of unloading the equipment off the truck to running a live concert. Our student body had the opportunity to gain experience in many different fields – audio, video, lighting, setup, tear-down and talent management.

Out of all the times we’ve had PRG bring gear out, this live event was the absolute best – both with the student turnout, the quality of the show, and the amazing performance day. The PRG trucks rolled into our Gilbert location on Monday night and dropped off tons of gear. Students were guided on the most effective ways to move and set up the gear in our 6,000 sq./ft live sound venue. Throughout the week, they set up 7.2 surround systems featuring line arrays and a wall of subwoofers, all enhanced with countless LCD panels and lighting.

Saturday’s show went off without a hitch! We had talent booked all day – 10 hours of entertainment. Students had opportunities to get up on the stage during the open mic time slots and show their love of music. We had all kinds of music, from turntablism to hip hop, slide guitar to blues explosions! Two local bands performed in this live event, including The Real Thing, featuring CRAS instructor Terry Bussoletti.

After that, CRAS supergroup Muddbone played – featuring session musician Dowell Davis, instructor Jim Bender and Director of Education Mike Jones! Instructors Neight Hardman and Scott Murray did a dual abstract noise set that showed exactly how much the subs could flex, and Project Instructor Jim Naron finished up the night bumpin’ some great jams on the 1s and 2s.

But the best part about all of this was all of our student participation. This event simply would not have happened without our students! Thank you very much to everyone who participated in this event.
